An Attitude of Gratitude

“Here are the two best prayers I know: ‘Help me, help me, help me’ and ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you.” -Anne Lamott

“Help me, help me, help me”  is a familiar prayer to anyone starting a new theatre.  Our prayers  are along the line of “help us find a space, the money, the right script, enough time, the best actor, great marketing, excellent tech help, inventive sets and costumes, and enthusiastic audiences to make this theatre a successful reality.”  We’re still looking for the next venue where we can produce a show. We’re still looking for a space with 250 seats to call “home.”  We’re searching for sponsors and on the lookout for creative ways to connect with the community. We have a long, long litany. There are days when it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work remaining to be accomplished.

But when Jayne and I compare notes, we’re thankful for so MUCH that has happened in 2012. We secured our non-profit status, produced two events with enthusiastic audience response, had several successful (and very fun) fundraising parties. We’ve attracted a top notch board of directors. We’ve had some terrific press in the News Sentinel and Metropulse along with a great interview on WBIR. Even under what are still acknowledged to be “challenging economic times” you’ve given us donations to move forward.  As the holidays approach we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has helped us.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
