Audition for us!

We’re thrilled to announce our first audition of 2013!  We’re equally thrilled about our collaboration with the League of Women Voters.  Flying Anvil Theatre wil present a staged reading of Staci Swedeen’s play, The Feeblemindedness of Woman for their fundraiser on March 15 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Knoxville.  In case you don’t know, the League does all kinds of great (and often thankless) work keeping our democratic process open and honest – like maintaining an observer corps that goes to all City Council and County Commission meetings.

The play is a funny and provocative riff on the difficulties women have faced in scientific circles. It focuses on Gerty Cori – the first woman to win a Nobel prize in science.  It takes the form of a play within a play – so it’s also a backstage peek at how an original play gets on it’s feet.

We’re having auditions on Friday, Febuary 1 from 5 – 7:30 and Saturday, February 2 from 10:30 – 12:30 at the Talent Trek office in Bearden. (5401 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919)  There are great roles for 2 women and 3 men. We’d love to see a short monologue. There is a $100 honorarium.

Come audition or plan to buy a ticket from the League!  It will be an entertaining and thought provoking evening for a very good cause!
