Organizational and Programmatic Changes
Effective May 15, 2022, our founder Jayne Morgan will be retiring from her position as Artistic Director at Flying Anvil Theatre. Jayne is an integral piece of what makes Flying Anvil fly, and we thank her for her contribution to the organization and Knoxville’s professional theatre community.
Without her vision at the helm, we felt it would be difficult to achieve the quality productions you’ve come to expect and support at Flying Anvil. With that in mind, we recognize the need to make some changes to our upcoming season.
American Son, scheduled for August 11 - 28, The Mystery of Irma Vep, scheduled for September 22 - October 9, and Our Town, scheduled for November 25 - December 22, have been canceled. These shows may make an appearance in future seasons, but no formal plans have been made.
Avenue Q, originally scheduled for June 23 - July 17, has been rescheduled for September 1 - 25. This change allows us adequate time to plan, fundraise, and rehearse this much anticipated production.
Ticket holders for any of the above productions, as well as subscribers, have received an email with ticket exchange or refund options. If you are a ticket holder who has not heard from us, please email us so we can get you squared away.
In addition to the above changes, we’re excited to add two shows to our season:
A Kid Like Jake and Who's Holiday! Join a couple as they rethink their role as parents and spouses while coming to terms with their gender non-conforming child in A Kid Like Jake, and Cindy Lou Who is all grown up as we hear her life's story after her fateful meeting with the Grinch in Who's Holiday! More information on these productions and tickets for our revised schedule can be found here. View the gallery below for show schedules
We sincerely thank you for accompanying us on this journey. During this transition, we will be sharing other organizational and programmatic changes, with a renewed sense of energy in sharing theatre with Knoxville and East Tennessee.
